Forte’s Casting Philosophy
All casting for Forte Theatre Company productions is conducted through an open audition process. Performers are selected based on talent, preparation, artistic interpretation, and overall suitability for the role and production. Our goal is always to assemble the strongest possible cast to serve the story and the audience experience.
At the same time, Forte Theatre Company recognizes the importance of representation in the performing arts. We actively encourage performers of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences to audition for our productions. Recruiting and welcoming BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) performers is an important priority in our outreach efforts, and we continually work to expand our networks to ensure that audition opportunities are shared broadly throughout the community.
For productions where race, ethnicity, or cultural identity are central to the authenticity of the story, we make intentional efforts to recruit performers who reflect those identities. We believe that thoughtful casting strengthens storytelling and honors the integrity of the material.
Forte Theatre Company is committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment both on and off the stage. We believe that theatre is strongest when it reflects the richness and diversity of the communities we serve. Forte Theatre Company is committed to creating a respectful, supportive environment for all artists, volunteers, and staff. We welcome dialogue, feedback, and partnerships that help us grow as an organization and continue building a vibrant and inclusive theatre community.
We encourage performers of all backgrounds to audition and be part of the Forte Theatre Company family.
