About the show

Based on Victor Hugo’s classic novel and the beloved Disney film, Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame is a powerful and sweeping musical about love, acceptance, and the meaning of justice. Set in 15th-century Paris, the story follows Quasimodo, the gentle bell-ringer of Notre Dame Cathedral, who longs to experience life beyond its towering walls.

When Quasimodo befriends the compassionate Esmeralda and crosses paths with the conflicted Archdeacon and the morally rigid Judge Frollo, he is drawn into a struggle between fear and freedom, cruelty and compassion. As Paris grapples with prejudice and power, Quasimodo must find the courage to define himself not by how others see him, but by who he truly is.

Featuring a soaring score by Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz—including “Out There,” “God Help the Outcasts,” and “The Bells of Notre Dame”—this emotionally rich musical combines stunning choral music with moments of deep humanity. Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame is a moving theatrical experience that challenges audiences to see beyond appearances and choose empathy over fear.
