We’re so happy that you’re interested in auditioning for a Forte Youth Production! Our youth shows are meant to be a fun, educational and inspiring experience for students ages 12-18. You do not need to be a Franklin resident to audition for a Forte Youth Production.
The mission of our education program is to educate young actors and give them an opportunity to work alongside theatre professionals. We want to create a safe and encouraging home away from home for our students!
AUDITION INFORMATION
Students will sign up for one time slot on the digital sign up sheet provided. Students should prepare a one minute song that highlights their vocal and acting abilities. We highly recommend using a backing/karaoke track which you can usually find online. No accompanist will be provided.
If you’re unsure about what song to sing and/or would like to sing from the show, please reach out to Randall Dodge, Artistic Director, at randall@fortetheatrecompany.org.
Please bring a device to play the backing/karaoke track and please make sure the track is downloaded to the device (i.e. don’t play it off YouTube). If you don’t have a device you wish to use for auditions, please email us the track ahead of time at randall@fortetheatrecompany.org.
When you arrive, sign in in the lobby. We will take a digital photo of each student (for casting purposes only; the photos will be deleted after casting is complete).
Students will be brought into the audition room individually, not in a group. Parents are kindly asked to wait in the lobby. You’ll will be greeted by members of the production staff (the director and producer, and sometimes the music director and/or choreographer). Then you’ll sing your song (1 minute only, please). And that’s it! You did it! Congrats!
CALLBACK INFORMATION
If a student receives a callback, they will be notified by email. We will use the email address that was given when you signed up for an audition slot, so please make sure it is correct. Callbacks usually take place the weekend following auditions.
Students may receive a song or scene from the show to prepare. It does not need to be memorized; we just ask that you familiarize yourself with the material before the callback.
If you don't receive a callback, that doesn't mean you will not be cast in the show!
CAST LIST
The cast list will be posted to our website within 1 week of the callback, often sooner. There is a production fee for students cast in the production due to be paid before the first rehearsal. If you need support with the production fee, please contact brenda@fortetheatrecompany.org.
